The Operation Blue Star was done to end the occupation of Golden Temple from the Khalistan terrorist who were inside in fortified locations.

It was carried out from 1 June to 8 June 1984 to remove the terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale the leader of Khalistan terror outfits.
The Terrorist took refuge in the temple after getting invited by the Harchand Singh Longowal, the President of the Sikh political party Akali Dal, had invited Bhindranwale to take up residence in the Golden Temple Complex to evade arrest.

But after taking refuge he made it his headquarters and Armory. Which made the Army to act and take down the terrorist.

But due to opposition from civilians and some military officers the army was made to go inside without their boots ๐Ÿ‘ข. That made the Army suffer heavy casualities.

After all this non-Sikhs officers disobeyed the orders given to them by the Sikh officers who were not allowing soldiers to wear boots inside.

The Temple surface has broken rubble which made it hard for soldiers to move fast and when the terrorist attacks them from their positions and soldiers unable to move get shot at.

After the disobeying the orders from higher command the Soldiers cleared the temple and killed the terrorist.

The Casualities the army suffered numbered 83 martyred Soldiers.
